At-Home Resources

April 8, 2020 by Lazara Abernathy

April 5th marked the beginning of Holy Week, a time where we as a church remember Jesus’ last days on earth before Easter Sunday. We are in unchartered waters as we wait and watch for news of when we can be together again for worship. Traditionally, we begin Holy Week with a procession on Palm Sunday and we come together several times throughout the week to remember the Passion Story.

There will not be a Facebook Live Stream service for either Maundy Thursday or Good Friday. We are conserving our people resources for the Easter Sunday Live Stream worship. Because we will not be together face to face this year, we are offering ways for you and your family to journey through Holy Week together at home.

1) For families with children (or children-at-heart!) – Try “Holy Week in a Box”

2) For adults – you can download free daily devotionals from These Days (they even provided a couple of adult coloring pages).

3) Maundy Thursday – we have attached a guide for an at-home Agape Meal that will help you connect the Passover Meal to the Lord’s Supper.

4) Good Friday – Building Faith offers this at-home activity which mirrors the church custom of stripping the altar/table, stripping a table at home instead. The resource is labeled “Maundy Thursday at Home,” but it is appropriate for Good Friday. Click to go to the page: Stripping the Altar

This is a difficult time for all of us. You all have been in our prayers and we look forward to the day we can be together again. We miss you dearly and wish you a blessed Holy Week and glorious Easter morning!

In Christ,

The GPC Christian Education & Worship Team
